Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Interactive Exhibits
Cross Platform Interactive Exhibition (2012-2013)
Role: Digital Art Direction & UI Design
Agency: New Angle / London
Brief:
Information about Kuwait’s geology, energy science and oil industry accessed through interactives and a bespoke ID tracking system.
Work:
For the Kuwait Oil Company Visitor Centre, we constructed 11 complex interactives and equipped them with a radio-frequency identification tracking system
that allows the public to collect the results of their experiences on a ‘Kuwait Oil Company Pass’. These include investigations into tectonic plates, finding oil traps,
and a multi-user map table showing Kuwait’s oil fields.
An interactive game was also designed to illustrate the danger areas for the workers at the oil drilling area.
As they walk round the centre, visitors meet virtual experts from the oil industry and get a taste of what it’s like to be one of them. Each expert sets a challenge and at the end of the exhibition visitors can see what they have achieved and collect an ‘ID card’ that can be used to unlock more content on the exhibition website.
An interactive game and applications were built application has been built up for the engineers to show the oil digging experience in the field. Visitors can use their iphone to register, pointed out in the exhibition centre with this app and interact with the ipad and touchscreen table display to learn about the hazards.
